Raise Your Standards to Create the Life you Really Want!

What if this concept alone could turn your life around?

It did turn my life around back in 2008. It’s back then I discovered that I needed to “raise my standards” while reading one of Tony Robbins' books.

It is the first thing I applied from his book, and it worked!

It's important to have dreams and goals in life. They give us something to strive for and help us stay motivated. But it's just as important to have standards. Standards are what we use to measure our dreams and goals. They help us determine whether we're on track to achieving our dreams or if we need to make some changes.

Without standards, it's all too easy to settle for less than we deserve. So ask yourself: Are you happy with only making $60k a year? Or being 20 lbs. overweight? If you answered no, then it's time to raise your standards. Because the truth is, you deserve better than that. You deserve to achieve your dreams. And when you set your standards high, you'll be surprised at what you can achieve.

When you lower your standards and expectations, it's more likely that life will offer what is acceptable to you.

Set higher standards for yourself and experience life on a deeper level:

1/ Your standards determine what's acceptable in life - and the least that is allowed for any given situation. What do you really desire? What is the least that you are willing to go for? When a situation breaches what's acceptable for you in life - such as earning less than desired or having more credit card bills than anticipated-you'll find ways to change this before it gets worse!

2/ You can always raise your standards. You are entirely in control of what level you want to strive for, and there’s no reason not to pursue it! There's nothing wrong with wanting more. Create your own destiny!

3/ Your conduct is what defines you. Are we willing to tolerate being late again? Procrastination, letting our family down and not speaking up for ourselves create an unproductive life that will have a greater impact on all aspects of your day-to-day activities if left unchecked. Be the person who sets high standards in every aspect of their lives. To be an effective person, you need to raise your expectations of yourself.

4/ Define a standard you’re committed to raising. Perhaps you want more money or stronger relationships, but how will it impact your life if that's what matters most? What changes would happen as part-of adopting the new standard for yourself in all areas – physically, mentally and emotionally?

5/ Imagine success in those areas. Imagine yourself with better friends or living a high paying job, and focus on the feeling it generates. This will draw you toward your new standards like an unstoppable force!

6/ It's time for a change. Take action! You'll know your new standards have taken hold because you won’t be able to keep doing things the same way anymore. If you’re still stuck, it means your standards haven’t changed enough.

7/ Your new standard will not reflect a mere goal, but who YOU really ARE instead! When you become the person that makes healthy living a priority for example, it becomes much easier to stay on track. You'll find yourself feeling more energized and free from worry about weight loss.

8/ Notice when you’re living up to your new standards. If you save money by buying less expensive food at the store or skipping your morning latte then feel proud of yourself. Get excited about your progress!

9/ What will happen if you fail to live up your new standards? Keeping with the money-saving example, you might not be able pay all of those bills on time, and it's possible that you will work past 65 instead of retiring. Make sure there aren't any other consequences by writing them down in detail! Understand what pain you might face if you don’t stay on track.

Setting high standards for yourself is one of the most important steps in turning your life around.

Life is about setting a baseline for what you're willing to accept. You don't always get what you want, but if your standards are high enough then success will find its way into your lap!
